How should I prepare for a career in podcast production?

Preparing for a career in the podcast industry can take many forms. Practice makes perfect, and the quality of your work will increase with time as you get better at producing and promoting it. But if you start your own podcast, you should not wait for it to be “perfect” before putting it out to the world. Start right now! Depending on what your podcast is, what it’s about, who is presenting it, what guests it may feature, what publicity it gets, the time it takes to prepare a successful podcast can vary dramatically. Some podcasts gain a huge following very quickly as they hit a zeitgeist, the themes approached are topical and relevant right now, or because the hosts, guests and/or brand partners already have a huge fanbase which can be harnessed (social media, TV, music, film, sports, etc.). Other podcasts may take years to evolve and steadily build up a listenership, which may happen through word of mouth and gradual online support, and then become successful through this development. Studying Radio, Audio & Podcasting at Point Blank will prepare you for a career in podcast production. You will get a head start by learning essential skills required by your future employers.
