What should I study if I want to become a radio presenter in 2024?

Preparing for a career as a radio presenter comes down to one thing: practice! Practice makes perfect, and the quality of your presenting will increase with time. Start your own radio show or podcast and share it with your friends! Practise editing audio as it will be some time before you have the luxury of a producer on your team. Depending on what your show is and what it’s about, what guests it may feature, what publicity it gets, the time it takes to be successful can vary dramatically. Some shows gain a huge following very quickly as they hit a topical issue, the themes approached are relevant right now, or because the guests and/or station already has a loyal and dedicated fanbase which can be harnessed (social media, TV, music, film, sports, etc.). Other shows will take time to evolve and steadily build up a listenership, which may happen through word of mouth and gradual online support, and then become successful through this development.

Studying Radio, Audio & Podcasting at Point Blank will kickstart your career as you will learn a wide range of transferable skills with expert lecturers who are working in the industry right now – from producing and presenting radio shows and podcasts, documentaries and audio imaging, developing original ideas, researching, presenting, creating visual assets for social media and understanding how the industry operates. It will also enable you to speed up the growth of your industry connections. Check out our courses below if you'd like to begin a career in the radio industry.
