The MMF Presents: Music Management Masterclass

Starting out running live music nights around Camden Town, Charlie joined global live agency UTA for a two-year periodCharlie Owen before gravitating towards management – becoming independent in January 2018, and taking on London-born soul singer Joy Crookes. After signing to Insanity Records, Joy has built a significant online audience – a performance of Mother May I Sleep With Danger? on the COLORS platform has received more than 8m YouTube views – and following a recent Jools Holland performance and a BRIT Awards Rising Star shortlisting, she secured fourth place on the BBC Sound Of 2020. Joy’s debut album is scheduled for release this year.

Jayne Stynes is General Manager at the Music Managers Forum, a not-for-profit trade body with over 900 members,Jayne Stynes seeking to educate, inform and represent UK managers, as well as providing a network through which managers can share experiences, opportunities and information.

Prior to joining the MMF Jayne spent 6 years working at Eleven Management, the innovative artist-led management company who’s roster included Damon Albarn, Blur, Gorillaz, The Clash, Róisín Murphy, Kano and Spoek Mathambo. During her time at Eleven, Jayne worked on five UK top five-album campaigns, Brit and MOBO Award winning acts, as well as Grammy and Mercury Music Prize nominated records. She has toured extensively in her day-to-day manager role and as tour manager with smaller productions.

Jayne is in the second year of her PhD studies at the department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research explores the significance of gender-focused initiatives in the UK music industries and wider creative industries sector.
