About the role

We seek an experienced and enthusiastic Social Media and Content Editor who has apassion for music and education and is driven by student recruitment and supportingstudents, alumni and the Point Blank brand across the education sector and music industry.Using the School’s wealth of in-house content, you’ll be required to conceive and writeoriginal, engaging editorial features across platforms including the Point Blank blog, thirdparty (partner) sites and Point Blank’s external-facing website, with a particular focus onadvertising our higher education programmes. With an exceptional writing style and inkeeping with the School’s tone-of-voice and style guide, you will be required to adaptmaterial across social media channels and other third party platforms informing ouraudiences of all successes, activities and news from Point Blank.

The Social Media and Content Editor’s responsibilities span editorial, design, video,messaging and reach to help evolve Point Blank’s story, and with a view to recruit studentson all courses, particularly the higher education provision. Opening up opportunities to ‘seeand hear’ the School’s activities and successes whilst consolidating global brandpartnerships across the music industry is a huge requirement of this role.

The Social Media and Content team is responsible for the delivery of informative, inspiringand impactful stories and messages which complement our brand and academic offering.

In this role you will lead on building a strong brand identity and driving positive messages toaudiences and partners within the industry. The role is heavily focused on communicationswith our prospective students, as well as students, graduates, the industry and the widerpublic. You will need exceptional communication and inter-personal skills and will need to becomfortable building communications (written word and design) from scratch across varyingformats and platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an annual social media schedule focussing on higher education student recruitment.
  • Create engaging content covering all key target audiences and activities, including national days such as International Women’s Day and Black History Month as well as, student competition opportunities, industry liaison and partnerships, and student enrichment and engagement.
  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the provision of the social media service, delivering relevant communications to enhance brand and recruitment.
  • Work with the industry and relevant employers to identify and create opportunities for students and/or alumni (competitions, promotions, discounts) and work with partners, tutors, and new technologies & platforms to boost these opportunities.
  • Write and design Point Blank stories, curating stories with leading stakeholders such as industry partners, lecturers, graduates, and current students.
  • Build and oversee a ‘social media hub’ housing all Point Blank’s student, staff and graduate success stories. The hub will be the main repository for many of the student, graduate, and staff narratives – helping teams to harness for recruitment purposes.
  • Lead on developing a social media ambassador group where our dedicated students can input into social communications such as TikTok, Instagram take-overs and general social media administration around mentions from interested third parties.
  • Managing Wordpress blog and building evergreen, sharable music-focused content with relevant imagery and video content.
  • Scheduling content on all major social media platforms ensuring high levels of engagement.
  • Collaborating with content partners to ensure efficient and effective sharing of content on social platforms and website
  • Design graphics, take photos and adapt videos for use across social networks and internal channels such as internal screens and other student-focused technology
  • Ensure that all student engagement services, activities, opportunities and events are effectively publicised (internally and externally) across platforms, with compelling copy that encourages sign-up and attendance, whilst reflecting our brand tone of voice.
  • Ensure that all information and processes relating to the activities is accurately presented, in a student / audience friendly way, in-line with business and regulatory requirements, and that all key stakeholders (internal and external) are kept informed.
  • Undertake any other duties as relevant to the proper execution of the role or as reasonably requested by the Head of Department or senior managers within the School.

PERSON SPECIFICATION - Essential

Education:

  • Hold a degree level qualification or equivalent, preferably with marketing related qualification

Experience:

  • Solid experience in a similar content role
  • Experience in social media output and copywriting
  • Experience in scheduling, planning and construction of relevant content plans for various audiences
  • Experience and understanding of music marketing
  • Experience in blog writing and on external-facing platforms such as Word Press 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong communicator and comfortable liaising with internal / external stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and solution focused, able to problem solve creatively
  • Team-player, can work with people from all disciplines, backgrounds and abilities
  • Exceptional written English and effective copy writing / proof reading skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong event planning and delivery skills
  • Accurate reporting on engagement metrics with conclusions and recommendations
  • Thorough and well-organised, able to meet multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Strong design and image curation skills and ability to use Adobe Suite for promotions and artwork
  • A thorough understanding of social media marketing within traditional and new/emerging social media platforms including sponsored posts/paid media and analytics
  • Understanding of the music industry and music production techniques
  • Usage of video editing software (NLE and TikTok/Reels) and ability to brief, create and adapt video content for socials
  • Camera operation for photography and video
