Equity & Accessibility

Point Blank LA is committed to making a college-level music education equitable and accessible to people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. To this end, we offer ample financial support options in the form of talent-based scholarships for producers, DJs, and singers, need-based tuition reductions, program package discounts, and installment payment plans, all described in detail below. LOS ANGELES PRODUCER SCHOLARSHIP

Point Blank is dedicated to helping talented producers from all over the world achieve excellence at our beautiful Mack Sennett Studios campus in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. All producers enrolling in new programs are eligible to apply for the Los Angeles Producer Scholarship, a talent-based scholarship which can defray up to 20% of your Point Blank tuition cost for courses or programs related to music production, music composition, sound design, mixing, mastering, etc. The amount of the scholarship is adjudicated according to production talent as evidenced through music samples combined with potential for industry success as evidenced through a personal statement. 

HOW TO APPLY: Submit a personal statement and 2 music samples of tracks you have produced to scholarships[at]pointblankmusicschool.com. The music samples may either be attached in MP3 format or provided as URL links to content posted online. The personal statement must be at least 250 words and must address each of the following four prompts:

  • Describe the creative process behind your music samples, and your previous experiences in the music industry, if any.
  • Describe any musical or academic honors, achievements, awards, or recognitions you’ve received, if any.
  • What inspires or influences you as an artist?
  • What are your goals during your Point Blank program and in the music industry after graduation?

LOS ANGELES DJ SCHOLARSHIP

Point Blank is dedicated to helping talented DJs from all over the world achieve excellence at our beautiful Mack Sennett Studios campus in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. All DJs enrolling in new programs are eligible to apply for the Los Angeles DJ Scholarship, a talent-based scholarship which can defray up to 20% of your Point Blank tuition cost for DJ courses or programs. The amount of the scholarship is adjudicated according to DJing talent as evidenced through the music sample combined with potential for industry success as evidenced through a personal statement. 

HOW TO APPLY: Submit a personal statement and a music sample of your live DJ set to scholarships[at]pointblankmusicschool.com. The music sample should showcase your best abilities as a DJ, and must be an audio or video recording of one of your live DJ sets of at least 10 minutes in length. It may either be attached in MP3 format or provided as a URL link to content posted online; YouTube links are the preferred submission format. The personal statement must be at least 250 words and must address each of the following four prompts:

  • Describe the creative process behind your live DJ set, and your previous experiences in the music industry, if any.
  • Describe any musical or academic honors, achievements, awards, or recognitions you’ve received, if any.
  • What inspires or influences you as a DJ?
  • What are your goals during your Point Blank program and in the music industry after graduation?

LOS ANGELES SINGING SCHOLARSHIP

Point Blank is dedicated to helping talented singers from all over the world achieve excellence at our beautiful Mack Sennett Studios campus in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. All singers enrolling in new programs are eligible to apply for the Los Angeles Singing Scholarship, a talent-based scholarship which can defray up to 20% of your Point Blank tuition cost for singing courses or programs. The amount of the scholarship is adjudicated according to vocal talent as evidenced through music samples combined with potential for industry success as evidenced through a personal statement. 

HOW TO APPLY: Submit a personal statement and video performances of two songs to scholarships[at]pointblankmusicschool.com. The video performances must be two songs of your choice; originals or covers are acceptable. No autotune or effects may be applied. The videos must be provided as URL links to content posted online. The personal statement must be at least 250 words and must address each of the following four prompts:

  • Describe the creative process behind your song selections, and your previous experiences as a singer, if any.
  • Describe any musical or academic honors, achievements, awards, or recognitions you’ve received, if any.
  • What inspires or influences you as a vocalist?
  • What are your goals during your Point Blank program and in the music industry after graduation?

NEED-BASED TUITION GRANTS (L.A.)

Point Blank is dedicated to helping music students of limited means achieve excellence at our Los Angeles location. Students whose families make less than $60,000 per year or individuals making less than $30,000 per year are eligible to apply for a need-based tuition grant, which can defray up to 20% of your Point Blank tuition cost.

HOW TO APPLY: Submit your most recent tax return (if you file), your parents most recent tax return, and a personal statement to scholarships[at]pointblankmusicschool.com. If you are not a US citizen/resident, submit a recent bank statement as well as your parents’ most recent bank statement. The personal statement must be at least 250 words and must address why you feel you deserve a need-based tuition grant.

PROGRAM PACKAGE DISCOUNTS (L.A.)

If you enroll in one course or program at Point Blank Los Angeles, you will receive a $200 discount off of tuition for each additional program you book during the same term. Students who receive a talent-based scholarship or a need-based tuition grant are not eligible for package discounts. Contact an admissions representative at 323-282-7660 x323 to enroll in multiple programs and receive the package discount.

INSTALLMENT PAYMENT PLANS (L.A.)

Upon enrollment, you have the option either to pay your full program tuition and fees upfront or to select an installment payment plan and pay-as-you-go in easy quarterly or monthly installments. Installment payment plans incur an additional 10% APR financing fee, and must be arranged in advance of the first day of instruction by providing either:

  • Bank account details, from which a quarterly direct debit of an agreed amount is set up with the first payment due before the first day of the course and thereafter at least two weeks before the first day of each subsequent term until all payment installments are completed; or:
  • Valid Visa/Mastercard details, from which Point Blank will deduct the periodic payment installments when they become due. If a student enrolls through the website and pays the registration fee via Worldpay, this arrangement may be set up automatically.

TERMS & CONDITIONS (L.A.)

The scholarships and grants listed above are subject to the following Terms & Conditions:

  • While students may apply for any scholarship or grant, only one scholarship or grant award will be given per student, per program. The maximum financial support package offered through a scholarship or grant at Point Blank Los Angeles is 20% of the total program tuition cost.
  • Scholarships and grants may only be used towards the cost of a Point Blank course, are not transferable and may not be redeemed for cash value.
  • Point Blank will attempt to contact the selected recipient using the phone and/or email information provided on this application. If the recipient does not respond within 7 days of the first contact attempt, the scholarship or grant offer will be rescinded
  • Where applicable, scholarship and grant funds will be disbursed periodically throughout the program. After the initial disbursement, the recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress and meet minimum attendance requirements in all courses to continue to receive funds.
  • If the recipient fails to maintain satisfactory academic progress or meet the minimum attendance requirements, the scholarship will be forfeited and the recipient is liable for all remaining tuition charges that would have otherwise been paid by the scholarship.
  • Point Blank reserves the right to not award a scholarship or grant if no applicant meets eligibility requirements.
  • Scholarships and grants are not guaranteed, nor will a scholarship or grant secure a place on the intended program or term of study for the recipient.
  • Students in receipt of scholarships or grants may be asked and be expected to attend external events (e.g. education exhibitions) or contribute to marketing material.
  • Students in receipt of a scholarship or grant who are eligible for free software will receive the software in the first week of their course.
