Gordon Raphael is a legendary, multi-platinum music producer and engineer. His work with The Strokes (Is This It, Room On Fire, First Impressions of Earth), Regina Spektor (Soviet Kitsch) and The Libertines made him the producer behind some of the most iconic indie and alternative music of the 2000s. Helping these once in a generation artists sell millions of records in the process. Other artists Gordon's worked with include Hinds and Skin, the trailblazing lead vocalist of Skunk Anansie. In the 90s he was part of the Seattle grunge scene, playing keys in Sky Cries Mary who Dave Grohl once described as "the best best band in Seattle."
Gordon has now detailed his unique approach to production and story-packed career in new memoir The World Is Going To Love This, published by Wordville. From recording Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) and The Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown to producing hit singles like Last Nite, Reptilia, Someday, 12:51 and Hard To Explain for The Strokes in his basement New York studio, the book tells the behind-the-boards story of Gordon's extraordinary career. In this masterclass we'll delve into the collaborative process between Gordon Raphael and The Strokes, shedding light on the creation of their iconic sound and the impact they've had on the music industry.
