Being a DJ & Producer to Founding Your Own DJ Agency

Dan Savidge (Defected, Ministry of Sound, Strictly Rhythm), a renowned DJ who has been working professionally since 1998 is joining us to lead a workshop on developing your music business acumen. Dan enjoys working through problems with people to find solutions, and see's his own music business experience as a valuable tool for mentees – how to network and present yourself and your work, as well as exploring the diversity of opportunity in the industry. Dan can offer a sounding board and contacts, as well as advice on performance contracts and many other elements of his agency Euphonica.

Dan ran the What Next programme at Somerset House for two years, which brought together over 150 young London-based musicians aged 18 - 24, to whom they provided rehearsal space, mentoring, studio time and a music producer. This process culminated in recordings of their songs and an opening set at a Summer Series gigs. The project included cross-genre workshops, creating opportunities for young photographers, designers and graphic designers to work alongside the musicians and professional mentors.

More from Dan

I have DJed professionally since 1998, and have played headline sets across the world, at festivals and nightclubs including Bestival main stage, Pacha Ibiza & Mokai Sao Paulo. More recently, I was David Beckham’s VVIP party DJ, Game Of Thrones World Premiere DJ, and was lucky enough to play alongside Stevie Wonder where he and I were the only performers.

Songs I wrote and produced have been released on Defected, Ministry of Sound, Strictly Rhythm and Hed Kandi. They have been played on most London FM radio stations. I have co-written with artists including Dele Sosimi and Byron Stingily.

Concurrent to my DJing and production, I worked in live events, at Tate and Somerset House, where I managed and produced events including AMEX Summer Series and Film 4 Summer Screen, and Skate at Somerset House, where I introduced DJ brands to the ice rink.

It was here in 2010 – 2012 that I ran What Next, a young artist development programme aimed at London-based songwriters, musical directors and instrumentalists on the cusp of professional careers in commercial music.

I am now director of music agency Euphonica, which I founded in 2015. We specialise in music and entertainment at corporate, private and cultural events. We are accredited at Tate, V&A, Somerset House and many more venues. We provided a 20 piece drumline to the Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham Stadium. We programme over 20 unique DJ sets per week to London nightlife venues. Corporate clients include Google, HSBC and Bloomberg.
