Overview

Creative DJ Skills will teach you a range of creative techniques including harmonic mixing, acapella mixing, effects, scratching techniques, and much more. Part of the program will focus on how to record, edit, and perfect a DJ mix using a DAW, so you will be able to create professional sounding mixes for a range of scenarios (promotion, guest radio slots etc.). You’ll learn tips and tricks for establishing/maintaining a DJ brand and getting DJ gigs from professionals with a wide range of experience, as well as how to use Pioneer DJ’s Rekordbox software (in Performance mode) and how to utilise its creative features such as sample players, cue points and loops confidently during performances.

Owner of Frogtown Sound, Paris is Point Blank LA's resident mastering engineer. He has mastered music by a slew of LA artists, including Polartropica, Minzy, Street Joy, and Molly Moore's new hit track "Zero Sum Game."

Carol de Leon Singing

Grammy Award winner Carol de Leon has bachelor's and master's degrees in voice performance from UC Riverside and CSU Northridge and deep experience as a recording artist, choir director, and singing instructor.

FAQs

What is My Schedule?

Each module requires your attendance in one weekly masterclass which will be 2 hours long. The masterclasses take place between 7-9pm UK time and will be on the same day each week. The masterclass day will be confirmed a week before the start of each term, but all classes are recorded and archived, so you can watch them back whenever it suits you if you can't attend live. You will also be able to book five 1-2-1 sessions with your lecturer per module per term for additional support - these take place in weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 and 11 of your course.

How does this online course work?

Studying with Point Blank online is a completely unique experience and unlike any other online course. You are personally guided by a professional DJ and provided with regular opportunities to discuss your progress to get expert feedback on your skills:

  • Masterclasses : where the whole class is online with your lecturer every week for two hours
  • Live Tutorials : 1-2-1 tutorials between you and your lecturer every two weeks
  • All live interaction can be recorded and revisited on request

Is this course suitable for beginners?

Yes. The course caters for students who have little or no prior knowledge. Students with DJ experience can also greatly benefit from Point Blank's world renowned courses.

Are there academic entry requirements?

No. There are no academic requirements for this course. This course or programme is practical, and therefore aimed at those who wish to develop their skills to a professional standard.

What equipment do I need to take this course?

Throughout your course you will be instructed and supported by our expert team of professional DJs. You will be able to contact them via the student forum, raise any issues that you may encounter on your course, and receive a timely response. All of the instructors are highly experienced in DJ-ing and/or have in depth knowledge of the music business and will be able to offer valuable advice and guidance. You will also be able to participate in a weekly online masterclass where you can raise specific questions related to the module you are currently taking.
