Mixing & Mastering Award

Overview

The Mixing & Mastering Award is an excellent three month package for more advanced producers who want to be able to complete the recording process independently. A good mix can lift your tracks and learning how to master them yourself will put you in an even stronger position - without being reliant on other sound engineers. You can mix your own track and master your own six track EP as part of this course. To meet the entry requirements you will need to have already completed the Point Blank Introduction to Music Production module or be able to demonstrate appropriate prior learning. You'll be taught by top flight industry professionals who have worked with Klaxons, Bloc Party, Lily Allen, Mystery Jets, Tricky, Carleen Anderson, Franz Ferdinand, Rizzle Kicks, Jamelia, Gorillaz, Kasabian and more. Unlimited practice time included.

What is my timetable?

Award students take two modules concurrently. Each module you take will require your attendance at either one daytime class or two evening classes per week. Please note your classes will be scheduled before the start of each term. Call for details. In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule sufficient practice time at our studio facilities each week. The studio facilities are open 7 days a week, allowing you to gain valuable studio experience and reinforcing the skills learned in class.

Do you hold open days?

We host studio tours in the Orsman Road Studio Complex every Wednesday at 5:30pm and every Saturday at 12:30pm. Address: 26 Orsman Road, Hoxton, London, N1 5QJ. Please Contact Us to make an appointment. The Admissions Team will show you around the facilities, answer questions and help get you enrolled. We will be happy to arrange an alternative time if you are not available during our scheduled tours. In the meantime, watch the London School Video Tour now.

When should I enrol?

There are four terms per year: January, April, July and September and you can start your course at any of these entry points. However, our courses have limited availability and get booked well in advance, so we recommend enrolling as soon as you are ready to secure your place to avoid disappointment.

I am an International Student. How do I apply?

EU Students

Students from the UK, European Union or European Economic Area can apply by following the guidance in the previous FAQ.

Non-EU Students

For courses of 6 months or more: you will most likely need to apply for a Tier 4 Visa. Point Blank has been awarded Tier 4 Sponsor Status and is able to sponsor international students on a Tier 4 Visa as long as applicants satisfy our application criteria. Please refer our International Student Guidance section for more information on the application process. NB: International Students (outside the EU) course fees are subject to a £1000 surcharge.

For courses of 6 months or less: you will not require a Tier 4 Visa but may need to apply for a Student Visitor's Visa. Please refer to our International Student Guidance section for more information on the application process.

Do I need to buy equipment to take the course?

No. We supply all the equipment you will need for your class and for practice time.

Music Production students please note: before you decide to buy equipment for your home studio, remember that all Point Blank students qualify for discounts from Apple Education, Ableton, Native Instruments, Pioneer and other leading industry partners.
