Everyone wants to give their tracks an edge against the competition and often, the secret's in the mastering. Demonstrated by professional mastering engineers who work with top acts in the best studios in London, this in an depth and expert practical analysis of mastering. Developed by Doug Shearer (mastering engineer for Jamelia, Gorillaz, Kasabian) and JC Concato (mix engineer for The Cure, Erasure, US3), you will learn to develop/tune your ears, find out about mastering EQ, compression (including multi-band), limiting, mid/side processing and more. You can master your own six track EP as part of this course. This course is taught on Waves, Brainworx, Izotope and T-Racks and the skills you learn can be applied to any mastering environment.

To meet the entry requirements for this course you will need to have already completed the Point Blank Introduction to Production module or be able to demonstrate appropriate/equivalent prior learning. Ask a Course Advisor.
Students on Short Courses have one lecture day each week. Lecture days for these courses take place either one daytime class (11am-6pm) or two evening classes (6:30pm-9:30pm) per week. Your classes will be scheduled before the start of each term. Please note, Audio Mastering and Advanced Radio Production are available as evening classes only. Call for details and to arrange times convenient time for you. In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule sufficient studio practical work each week. The studio facilities are open to you seven days a week gaining you valuable studio time and reinforcing the skills learned in class.

We host studio tours in the Orsman Road Studio Complex every Wednesday at 5:30pm and every Saturday at 12:30pm. Address: 26 Orsman Road, Hoxton, London, N1 5QJ. Please Contact Us to make an appointment. The Admissions Team will show you around the facilities, answer questions and help get you enrolled. There are four terms per year: January, April, July and September and you can start your course at any of these entry points. However, our courses have limited availability and get booked well in advance, so we recommend enrolling as soon as you are ready to secure your place to avoid disappointment.

For courses of 6 months or more: you will most likely need to apply for a Tier 4 Visa. Point Blank has been awarded Tier 4 Sponsor Status and is able to sponsor international students on a Tier 4 Visa as long as applicants satisfy our application criteria. Please refer our International Student Guidance section for more information on the application process. NB: International Students (outside the EU) course fees are subject to a £1000 surcharge.
For courses of 6 months or less: you will not require a Tier 4 Visa but may need to apply for a Student Visitor's Visa. Please refer to our International Student Guidance section for more information on the application process.
