The Music Industry Certificate is a six month course co-developed by Keith Harris, the manager of Stevie Wonder and taught by instructors with years of insider music industry experience. It provides a fantastic grounding in all aspects of the industry including new media, digital distribution, how the music radio scene works and live event management. It is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in the music industry. Starting with an overview of the business as a whole, the course then takes you through potential areas for employment, how to take music to radio and finally a practical module where, overseen by your instructor, you organise a live event and plan a digital music release - like the group of music business students in the video above. All designed to get you started in the industry, even while you are on your course.
Part time, 2 daytime classes (11am - 6pm) or 4 evening classes (6.30 - 9.30pm)
This course allows you to take advantage of Point Blank's expert instructors, outstanding facilities and practical hands on style of teaching without taking the academic route. You will receive a Point Blank Certificate on successful completion.
If you wish to gain accreditation you can apply for one of our accredited courses instead e.g. BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering which is quality assured by Middlesex University and for which you receive a Middlesex award on successful completion. It is an ideal progression route to a job in the industry.
Certificate students take up to two modules concurrently depending upon which course you are enrolled. Each module you take will require your attendance at either one daytime class (11am-6pm) or two evening classes (6:30pm-9:30pm) per week.
Please note your classes will be scheduled before the start of each term. Call for details and to arrange times convenient time for you. In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule sufficient studio practical work each week. The studio facilities are open to you 7 days a week gaining you valuable studio time and reinforcing the skills learned in class.
Professional and Career Development Loans are commercial bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning. You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one year’s relevant unpaid practical work). The Government will pay the interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month afterwards. You will then need to start repaying the loan as you would any other commercial loans product. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to supplement other forms of support such as grants or bursaries. As the Professional and Career Development Loan is a commercial loan product, you should make sure you have investigated all the funding options that may be open to you to ensure you take an informed decision about whether the Loan is right for you. For further information on financial assistance to support your learning visit, click here or contact the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900. Our learning provider registration number is 5742.
