ABOUT THE ROLE

Point Blank Online is the e-learning department of Point Blank Music School. We are looking for a dynamic, friendly, online-savvy individual to coordinate our online school and contribute to the strategic expansion and success of Point Blank Online.

In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth running of our Online School and for coordinating and monitoring our Online School lecturers with a view to maintaining and exceeding our high-quality educational standards. You will engage with our students using all modes of communication to improve their online experience, ensuring that they feel part of our community. You will create networking and collaboration opportunities, empathising with and helping the students to enjoy their studies. Your aim is to provide a direct route for the student voice to contribute to the ongoing development of the online school.

We are looking for someone with a passion for music and online communities. Ideally, you’ll have experience and technical knowledge of distance learning methods and Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) as well as first-hand experience of music production and related creative activities. You will also have exceptional communication and inter-personal skills, a meticulous attention to detail and be comfortable managing multiple projects, deadlines, and staff at any one time.

In short, you will be a music loving, digitally savvy professional, a people person who can engage and support students and lecturers alike. Your objective will be to ensure that our Online School provides a fantastic and world-leading educational experience in a forward thinking and innovative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management

  • To monitor masterclasses, forums, 1-2-1s, assignments and timekeeping
  • To organise teaching cover and assist with the recruitment of new online lecturers
  • To check registers have been completed correctly
  • To follow up with lecturers on any issues in a timely manner
  • To provide regular updates on lecturer behaviour/progress to senior staff
  • To confirm lecturer termly class allocations and masterclass times
  • To train new lecturers on our systems and offer ongoing technical support
  • To share students’ feedback with lecturers and relevant module leaders
  • To hold regular catch ups with lecturers to review progress / student engagement

Engagement

  • To engage with online students and direct them to non-academic resources
  • To hold regular engagement “check-ins” with online students on longer courses
  • To flag concerns regarding students to other departments (e.g. Wellbeing)
  • To track student success, passing on relevant details to the Marketing team
  • To assist with event planning and the hosting of online events including open days, networking events, and extra-curricular workshops To collate student feedback and share with relevant departments and committees
  • To ensure that online student opportunities match our London school provision
  • To work with other teams on enhancements in the online learning experience
  • To be creative and propose ideas to improve the Online School experience
  • To help create and engender a sense of community for our Online students

Administration

  • To check and validate invoices from freelance Online School lecturers
  • To update records of class numbers for invoicing purposes
  • To accurately track hours worked by contracted lecturers teaching online
  • To attend weekly meetings, providing feeding back to other departments

Education

Educated to degree level or possessing relevant, equivalent experience.

Experience

Industry experience of music production and related creative activities.

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to create online activities and communities to encourage collaboration and enhance the student experience. Technical knowledge of distance learning methods and VLEs. Excellent oral and written skills with good attention to detail. Strong people management skills and experience. Comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to multitask and problem solve effectively and independently. Excellent administrative and organisational skills An understanding of, and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. An understanding of Health and Safety within an education environment.
