BURSARIES, SCHOLARSHIPS AND FUNDS

Point Blank is committed to making music education accessible and inclusive. We are delighted to offer scholarships, bursaries and funds that are designed to remove financial barriers to accessing our Higher Education courses. WIDENING PARTICIPATION BURSARIES

ACCESS TO MUSIC BURSARY (LONDON)

This bursary is available to eligible applicants whose circumstances may otherwise prevent them from commencing their studies, with the aim of promoting greater diversity. Bursaries will be paid directly into a nominated bank account on a termly basis.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Have been accepted onto one of our Higher Education programmes at our London campus
  • Be a UK national applying to study your first degree (you must not have completed a degree level course already)
  • Have a household income of less than £46,000 per annum.

Details regarding the process for applying for the Access to Music Bursary from 2023/24 will be published shortly.

WOMEN IN MUSIC BURSARY (LONDON)

This bursary is available to women from lower income backgrounds, and areas where there is low progression to higher education. Bursaries will be paid directly into a nominated bank account on a termly basis.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Have been accepted onto one of our Higher Education programmes at our London campus
  • Be a UK national applying to study your first degree (you must not have completed a degree level course already)
  • Have a household income of less than £46,000 per annum.

CARE LEAVER BURSARY

This bursary is available to students who have spent at least 13 weeks under the care of a local authority. Applicants who indicate care experience via their UCAS or direct application will be contacted for confirmation of care leaver status, usually in the form of a letter from a local authority, social worker, or case worker. Bursaries will be paid directly into a nominated bank account on a termly basis.

FUNDS

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUND (LONDON)

As part of our commitment to providing financial assistance for students who meet financial difficulties whilst studying on a degree course with us, we have the Financial Assistance Fund available. This fund provides financial support to current students who have met unforeseen financial difficulties and to help them access and remain on their course. The maximum award is £1,000 per year, but only in exceptional circumstances will individuals receive a grant of more than £500. This fund is only available to current Point Blank students.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Student Development Scholarship Fund aims to support the educational and professional development of full-time higher education students at Point Blank Music School. The fund provides financial assistance to eligible students, enabling them to access learning and development opportunities such as conferences, short courses, and travel. The fund will be distributed to deserving students on a first come, first served basis. Each individual award will be up to a maximum of £500.

To be eligible for the Student Development Scholarship Fund, applicants must meet the following criteria:

a) Be registered as a current full-time student at Point Blank Music School on a higher education programme.

b) Have a good academic standing (e.g. satisfactory attendance and academic progress to date)

c) Demonstrate a genuine interest in personal and professional development.

d) Clearly articulate how the proposed opportunity aligns with their academic and career goals.

e) Be able to demonstrate the financial need for assistance.

Applicants are only eligible to receive funding from the Student Development Scholarship Fund once per academic year. Student applications for similar areas of activity funded in previous years for an individual student will not normally be considered. 

The application from should include the following information:

a) Personal details (name, student ID, contact information)

b) Academic information (programme of study)

c) Proposed opportunity details (name, dates, location, purpose, cost)

d) An explanation of how the opportunity aligns with the student’s academic and career goals

e) A statement outlining the financial need for assistance.

f) Any supporting documents, such as a letter of acceptance, programme brochure, and proof of costs.

SCHOLARSHIPS

GOLDIE SCHOLARSHIP (LONDON)

Point Blank and Alumni Goldie have a long and cherished history together. A prominent British electronic musician, DJ, and visual artist, he rose to fame in the early 1990s as a major contributor to the development of Jungle and Drum and Bass music. After releasing music in the early 1990s he became one of the most influential figures in the UK rave scene. He has since released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Timeless" and "Saturnz Return", and collaborated with a range of artists, such as Bjork, Noel Gallagher, and KRS-One. He is now looking to give back to new emerging artists by sponsoring two of his very own professional scholarships here at Point Blank!  So, if you are looking to study a professional course including any Summer School programme at Point Blank then please apply. RISING STARS MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP (LONDON)

This scholarship is available to applicants who would like to study any of our degree programmes on campus in London. Each academic year, Point Blank can award two of these scholarships to outstanding applicants. The scholarship is worth £6,000 per year and will be deducted from the course fees.

To be eligible applicants will need to:

  • Exhibit exceptional creative flair and aptitude and a strong portfolio that showcases your innovative artistic style
  • Evoke a powerful voice, as evidenced by a diverse body of work that reflects your unique perspective and creativity
  • Demonstrate a talent for music creation, composition, or performance, depicted through an impressive portfolio that captures your artistic journey.
  • Be a UK national applying to study their first degree (you cannot have completed a degree level course already)

WE ARE EUROPE SCHOLARSHIP (LONDON)

The We Are Europe Scholarship is awarded to EU applicants without settled or pre-settled status in the UK. This scholarship allows the same financial benefits as domestic students by granting EU students the home tuition fee.

To be eligible applicants or students should:

  • Have been accepted on any of our Higher Education courses at our London campus
  • Be an EU national applying to study your first degree (you cannot have completed a degree level course already)

The scholarships will be automatically applied to all EU applicants for this upcoming academic year.

WE ARE INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP (LONDON)

This scholarship is available to applicants from outside of the UK and the European Union (EU). For each academic year, Point Blank can award these to a limited number of outstanding international applicants who would not otherwise be able to study with us. The scholarship is worth £3,000 per year (up to £9,000 in total depending on your pathway) and will be deducted from the course fees.

To be eligible applicants or students should:

  • Demonstrate outstanding potential, evidenced through a portfolio of work and a personal statement
  • Have been accepted on any of our Higher Education courses at our London campus
  • Be an international applicant applying to study your first degree (you must not have completed a degree level course already)

MUSIC INDUSTRY LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP (LONDON)

This scholarship is available to applicants to study any of our Higher Education programmes in London. Each academic year, Point Blank can award these to a limited number of outstanding applicants. The scholarship is worth £1,000 per year (up to £3,000 in total depending on your pathway) and will be deducted from the course fees. 

To be eligible students should:

  • Have been accepted on any of our Higher Education courses at our London campus
  • Be a UK national applying to study their first degree (you cannot have completed a degree level course already)
  • Have achieved 152 UCAS points or the equivalent.

Application is automatic; there is no need to apply. The scholarship will be awarded once confirmation of results/grades have been received.

MUSIC INDUSTRY TALENT SCHOLARSHIP (LONDON)

This scholarship is available to applicants to practical courses at our London school and is worth the value of one module. This can be awarded to students who show outstanding music potential and need financial assistance.

To be eligible students should:

  • Demonstrate outstanding potential, evidence through a portfolio of work and a personal statement
  • Be applying to study a professional course
  • Have a household income of less than £46,000 per annum

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The scholarships, bursaries and grants listed above are subject to the following terms & conditions:

  • Scholarships may only be used towards the cost of a Point Blank course and may not be redeemed for cash value.
  • Scholarships and bursaries may be rescinded at the institution's discretion if a student changes course.
  • Point Blank will contact the selected recipient via email. If the recipient does not respond within 7 days of the offer letter being sent, the scholarship or bursary offer will be rescinded.
  • Where applicable, scholarship funds will be disbursed periodically throughout the programme. After the initial disbursement, the recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress and meet the minimum attendance requirements to continue to receive the scholarship. If the scholarship recipient fails to maintain satisfactory academic progress or meet the minimum attendance requirement, the scholarship will be forfeited, and the recipient is liable for all remaining tuition charges that would have otherwise been paid by the scholarship.
  • Bursaries will be paid in termly instalments to the recipient. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that correct and accurate bank details have been provided to Point Blank.
  • Point Blank reserves the right to not award a scholarship, bursary or grant if no applicant meets eligibility requirements.
  • Scholarships and bursaries are not guaranteed, nor will a scholarship or bursary award secure a place on the intended programme or term of study for the recipient.
  • Students in receipt of scholarships or bursaries may be expected to attend external events (e.g., education exhibitions) or contribute to marketing material.
  • Students in receipt of a scholarship or bursary will receive it in the first week of their course once all enrollment requirements are met.
