Equivalent to year one of our BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering, the CertHE Music Production & Sound Engineering is your chance to benefit from the practical music industry expertise and innovative teaching methods that Point Blank is known for whilst also gaining an internationally recognised Higher Education qualification awarded by Middlesex University. It will enable you to make cutting edge music in your chosen style with professional techniques, taught by experienced music producers - see Expert Instructors below. Whilst building your knowledge of production you’ll also learn key business skills and acquire industry contacts to help you launch your career in music. This CertHE is worth 120 internationally recognised credits at level 4. You can progress onto year 2 of this programme and complete the DipHE and in turn progress onto the final year of our BA (Hons) degree, either online or at Point Blank's London school. The following guidelines are designed to orientate you through entry on to a Higher Education course at Point Blank.
First and foremost, we are looking for people who can demonstrate a) their passion for music and b) an ability to successfully complete a Higher Education programme.
This will initially be assessed through your personal statement which should include any previous study or relevant experience in music. The Admissions Team will look at the merits of each applicant, taking the following evidence into consideration:

Students study two modules concurrently. This is a full time distance learning course and during term time we recommend students study for at least 20 hours per week. There is one, hour-long masterclass per week and various scheduled 1-2-1 Live Tutorials throughout each term.
Yes. This programme is quality assured by Middlesex University and you receive a Middlesex award on successful completion. Subject to validation. Each module is worth 20 credits.
You can also opt out of the accreditation and still take advantage of Point Blank's expert instructors, outstanding course content, innovative online interaction and practical hands on style of teaching without taking the academic route. Throughout your course you will be supported by your Course Advisor who will answer enquiries about your course experience and who will ensure sure you are happy with the service we offer. For your learning pathway you will be in constant contact with your dedicated module leader, a carefully selected and trained professional music producer/instructor. You will be able to contact him 24/7 via the student forum and raise any issues that you may encounter. All of the instructors are highly experienced in making music with Logic, Ableton, Native instruments and other software and/or have in depth knowledge of the music business. We will be able to offer valuable advice and guidance. You will also be able to participate in a weekly online masterclass where you can raise specific questions related to the module you are currently taking. Students also have access to extensive online resources for academic and technical support in addition to the staff (academic and administrative) who will be able to support you throughout your course.

Chris worked with Adrian Sherwood, Little Axe, Shara Nelson & Asian Dub Foundation. Released his own productions on labels like TCR, Botchit and Scarper, he’s also a DJ/remixer and music library creator.
Music manager Jen ran T in the Park for 5 years, A&R'd at Fiction Records, set up King Tut Recordings and runs her own business - Euphonios. A board member of AIM & SMIA, Jen has also worked with BBC.
As guitarist with Death in Vegas played gigs all over the world; recorded with Iggy Pop, Liam Gallagher & Paul Weller. Also worked with Arthur Baker, Dot Allison & Brandon Block.
Interscope Records A&R Dave is a powerful man in EDM. He signed acts like Nero & Zedd to the label. He was recently named as one of the three most powerful people in America’s EDM scene in Billboard.
After graduating, Felix went to #1 in 11 countries with 'Cheerleader'. He says: "PB enabled me to network with other young artists & learn from each other. I’m still working with some of them!"
