As always, Dr. Knowles supplements his own teaching with that of the personal friends and industry guest presenters he invites to speak directly to the class. Designed for artists, creators, established music industry professionals, and beginners alike, Fundamentals of the Music Industry in the Digital Age II is essential to developing a core understanding of the music business, building and marketing a consistent artist brand, maintaining meaningful and powerful industry relationships, using social media effectively, and targeting your music to labels, publishers, films, and television. Dr. Knowles also focuses on planning, implementing, finding success, and building an artist's fanbase through touring and live performance. 

  • You will learn through a dynamic assortment of lectures, special guest speakers, hands-on workshops, and more, discovering the fundamentals of record deals, the creative process, studio recording, music marketing, artist branding, relationship building, social media, and touring.
  • There are 10 weekly classes, running for two hours per week, scheduled on Wednesdays from 12pm-2pm beginning on May 4, 2022.

Dr. Knowles is a legendary author, professor, lecturer, public speaker, entrepreneur, music executive, artist manager and founder of Music World Entertainment (MWE). Based out of Houston, MWE is one of the world’s leading music and entertainment conglomerates. Dr. Knowles' impressive track record involves eight consecutive #1 Albums for Destiny's Child, three consecutive #1 Albums fo Beyoncé, and his artists have accumulated a total of 28 Grammy awards.

As well as his impressive industry experience, Dr. Knowles is a renowned academic, having lectured and spoken at some of the world's leading Universities such as Harvard, University of Houston, and University of Manchester. What equipment do I need to buy to take the course?

None at all! Every Point Blank student has access to their own fully-equipped workstation in class and during their practical studio work outside of class time. If you decide to purchase equipment for your own home studio, we will be happy to help you arrange student discounts from our leading industry partners including Apple, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Serato, Izotope, Waves, and more.

When are the classes scheduled?

For Dr. Knowles' 10-week course, class begins Wednesday, October 6, 2021 and meets once per week for 2 hours at the following session time:

12:00pm – 2:00pm (Afternoon Session)

Call 323.594.8740 for the most up-to-date information on class availability. Our facilities are also open for student use from 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday, giving you valuable studio time to make your music and reinforce your new skills outside of class sessions.

Do you provide housing accommodations?

Point Blank has partnered with Upstart Housing to provide our students with inexpensive and conveniently-located housing options in Silver Lake, Echo Park, East Hollywood, and more. Most of our housing locations include built-in recording studio spaces.
