Develop your vocal, performance and music production skills with this intense and practical 9-month diploma. This programme is developed and taught by industry professionals who’ve worked with huge stars like Pharrell Williams, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Rihanna, so you know you’ll be in the right hands!
If you want to create music for your vocals and receive expert vocal coaching at the same time then this specialist course will provide you with all you need to begin an exciting career in the music industry. We welcome all types of performers, including singers, rappers, emcees and more, creating a collaborative and diverse environment. You’ll learn how to write, produce and perform your vocals professionally, in the studio and on stage with modules including Music Production, Singing, Studio Vocal Production, Songwriting and more. The course will culminate in a performance showcase which will greatly contribute towards the next steps in your career.
You’ll also gain a thorough understanding of the music business with our Music Industry module, designed and taught by our lecturers who’ve worked with major record labels including Virgin (EMI), Mercury Records (Universal) and Sony music. You’ll be studying in our state-of the-art studios in Shoreditch and have opportunities to attend free masterclasses, events and other networking opportunities. Depending on your programme, certain pieces of hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies at Point Blank.
To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on-campus, this equipment will be available to use either in-class or by booking practice time. Note that you have access to our facilities 7 days a week during term time for the length of your course (excluding scheduled breaks).

Where you may choose to study online (distance learning), this equipment will be essential to your studies and assignment work. If for any reason you cannot afford to purchase an essential item, you may be eligible for financial support via the hardship fund. More information about this can be found here.
If you wish to buy equipment or software for your home studio, remember that Point Blank students qualify for discounts from Apple Education, Ableton, Native Instruments, Pioneer DJ and other leading industry partners.
Each module requires your attendance at one daytime class which will be 3 or 4 hours long depending on the module. Your timetable will be confirmed a week before the start of each term. If you have specific timetable requests, please contact us before booking and we will do our best to arrange your classes at times that suit you.
In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule sufficient practice time each week. The studio facilities are open to you 7 days a week gaining you valuable studio time and reinforcing the skills learned in class. Students can also book regular 1-2-1 sessions with our lecturers outside of class time.
This is a full time course and students should undertake 10 hours of study per module per week. This time includes lectures, 1-2-1 sessions with our instructors, studio bookings and self-study. Students can work whilst taking the course. We recommend students work no more than 15 hours per week.
Non-UK students cannot enrol in this course since it is not accredited.
If you take the accredited route by applying for the BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering (2 year) which is validated by Middlesex University, you will need a Student Visa. For more information, please visit our International Students page here.
