Ableton Production Weekend


Spend a weekend with Ableton Live! In just two days, this fun, intensive Ableton class will introduce you to the skills and techniques you need to start producing your own tracks. The course includes getting set up, using audio and MIDI clips, arranging your track, using drum loops, warping, mixing, and processing with effects like filters, vocoders, delay, and reverb. All weekend Ableton classes are taught in small groups at the historic Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake. How do I enroll in this course? 

Point Blank Music School is approved to operate in the state of California by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). This means that our educational offerings meet minimum state standards and requirements. As part of these requirements all students must receive our official school Catalog and sign an Enrollment Agreement and the School Performance Fact Sheet for their program. Once these forms have been completed, you may make your tuition payment and reserve your place in the class! When are the classes scheduled?

Classes can take place at one of the times shown below. Your classes will be scheduled before the start of each term. Call 323.282.7660 for details. In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule their own sufficient practical studio work each week. The facilities are open to you outside your lecture times, giving you valuable studio time to make your music and reinforcing the skills you learn in class. Please note there is only limited availability for evening slots.

1. Morning class – one session a week per course

  • 10:00am – 12:00am
  • 15 minute break
  • 12:15pm – 2:15pm

2. Afternoon class – one session a week per course

  • 2:45pm – 4:45pm
  • 15 minute break
  • 5.00pm – 7:00pm

3. Evening class (limited availability) – one session a week per course

  • 6:15pm – 8:15pm
  • 15 minute break
  • 8:30pm – 10:30pm

4. Weekend classes – Saturday and Sunday

  • 11am to 1pm
  • One hour break
  • 2pm to 6pm

When should I enroll?

Book early to avoid disappointment, as our class sizes are small. There are six to sixteen places available for each class (depending on which studio the class takes place in) and they fill up quickly prior to each term.

What equipment do I need to buy to take the course?

None! Every Point Blank student has access to their own fully-equipped workstation in class and during their practical studio work outside of class time. If you decide to purchase equipment for your own home studio, we will be happy to help you arrange student discounts from our leading industry partners including Apple, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Serato, Izotope, Waves, and more.

Cathleen has been dancing all her life & already accomplished a bunch of amazing things while studying at PB. She toured with Kanye West as part of his creative team and is a DJ and classically trained pianist.
