Overview

Point Blank LA’s 6-month Music Production Certificate will teach you all about the world of music production, composition, sound design, and mixing. You’ll be taught by industry professionals who’ve worked with the likes of Flying Lotus, Pharrell, Skrillex, and more. You’ll learn to create your own sounds and utilize virtual instruments, plug-ins, and effects using the industry’s best tech. If you're looking for a launchpad to get your music career off the ground, this is it.


This certificate program takes place over 6 months with two classes per week, in small class sizes designed to help you get the most out of the program. You will have the opportunity to take part in exclusive masterclasses from the likes of Mark de Clive-Lowe, Laura Escude (Jay Z, Kanye West), Daddy Kev (Low End Theory), and Jimmy Mac (Lorde). You’ll learn on the latest industry tech including Ableton Live, Push, Logic Pro, NI Komplete, Roland Cloud, and receive a copy of Ableton Live 11 Suite ($749 value) or Apple Logic Pro X ($199 value) included with the price of tuition for the program. Markman Composition & Mixing

FAQs

What equipment do I need to buy?

None at all! Every Point Blank student has access to their own fully-equipped workstation in class and during their practical studio work outside of class time. If you decide to purchase equipment for your own home studio, we will be happy to help you arrange student discounts from our leading industry partners including Apple, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Serato, Izotope, Waves, and more.

When are the classes scheduled?

For each 10-week course within in this program, class meets once per week for 4 hours (with a 15-minute break included) at one of the following session times:

10:00am – 2:00pm (Morning Session)

2:30pm – 6:30pm (Afternoon Session)

7:00pm – 11:00pm (Evening Session)

Some programs contain up to 4 courses per quarter, so check the "Key Info" section on each program page to see how many classes you'll be attending each week. Classes are scheduled before the start of each quarter; call (323) 594-8740 for the most up-to-date information on scheduling and class availability. Our facilities are also open for student use seven days a week, giving you valuable studio time to make your music and reinforce your new skills outside of class sessions.

Do you provide housing accommodations?

Point Blank has partnered with Upstart Housing to provide our students with inexpensive and conveniently-located housing options in Silver Lake, Echo Park, East Hollywood, and more. Most of our housing locations include built-in recording studio spaces. There are many other options for student housing accommodations near Point Blank LA; please visit our Student Accommodation page for more info.

I work full-time. Can I enroll?

Yes. Classes are usually available in the evening and on weekends, and we will be happy to arrange a class schedule that works around your other professional commitments.
