Overview

Our 6-month Music Production Certificate program takes you on a fully comprehensive musical journey through the world of music production, composition, sound design, and mixing. In intimate group classes meeting two days per week, you'll learn how to use Ableton Live in powerful and creative ways. You'll utilize its extensive array of amazing-sounding instruments, plug-ins, and effects, and you'll practice modern mixing and sound design techniques. Each workstation includes Ableton Live 10 and a Push controller, the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol instrument suite with a Maschine controller and S49 keyboard, as well as Output's excellent REV instrument suite, all of which are covered in the college classes. Learn music production and composition techniques from world-class music industry professionals at an Ableton-certified college, and find inspiration for your own successful career in music. Scholarships & Grants

Los Angeles Producer & DJ Scholarships

Point Blank is dedicated to helping music producers & DJs achieve excellence while gaining a college-level diploma. Every year, we offer scholarships to talented applicants. Producer & DJ Scholarships are worth up to 20% of tuition and are available for any production or DJ program delivered at our LA campus. Click here for more information or click here to apply.

Need-Based Tuition Grants

Point Blank is dedicated to helping music students of limited means achieve excellence at our Los Angeles location. Students whose families make less than $60,000 per year or individuals making less than $30,000 per year are eligible to apply for a need-based tuition grant, which can defray up to 20% of your Point Blank tuition cost. Program Package Discounts

If you enroll in one course or program at Point Blank Los Angeles, you will receive a $200 discount off tuition for each additional program you book during the same term. Students who receive a talent-based scholarship or a need-based tuition grant are not eligible for package discounts. Installment Payment Plans

Upon enrollment, you have the option either to pay your full program tuition and fees upfront or to select an installment payment plan and pay-as-you-go in easy quarterly or monthly installments. Click here for more information.

FAQs

What equipment do I need to buy to take the course?

None at all! Every Point Blank student has access to their own fully-equipped workstation in class and during their practical studio work outside of class time. If you decide to purchase equipment for your own home studio, we will be happy to help you arrange student discounts from our leading industry partners including Apple, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Serato, Izotope, Waves, and more.

When are the classes scheduled?

For each 10-week course, class meets once per week for 4 hours (with a 15-minute break included) at one of the following session times:

10:00am – 2:00pm (Morning Session)

2:30pm – 6:30pm (Afternoon Session)

7:00pm – 11:00pm (Evening Session)

Some programs contain up to 4 courses per quarter, so check the "Key Info" section on each program page to see how many classes you'll be attending each week. Classes are scheduled before the start of each quarter; call 323.282.7660 for the most up-to-date information on scheduling and class availability. Our facilities are also open for student use from 9:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday, giving you valuable studio time to make your music and reinforce your new skills outside of class sessions.

Do you provide housing accommodations?

Point Blank has partnered with Upstart Housing to provide our students with inexpensive and conveniently-located housing options in Silver Lake, Echo Park, East Hollywood, and more. Most of our housing locations include built-in recording studio spaces.
