Point Blank is an award-winning music school based in London, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Mumbai, China and online. The School specialises in Higher Education and practical courses in subjects including Music Production and Sound Engineering, DJ Practice and Performance, Singing and Songwriting, Music Industry Management, and Radio Production and Broadcasting.

We seek an experienced and enthusiastic Outreach and Events Officer who has a passion for music and education and is driven by supporting students in reaching their full potential through the delivery of informative, inspiring and impactful recruitment and in-house engagement activities.

The Outreach and Events Officer will work closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications and the Widening Participation Manager to identify new opportunities for outreach and recruitment programmes, and is responsible for developing and delivering resources for Point Blank prospects to ensure that they are well equipped to make decisions on their chosen programme. The postholder will be planning and delivering a range of events, opportunities, information and activities for a range of audiences across multiple platforms (virtual, onsite / offsite) each year.

The role is heavily focused on communications with prospective and hard to reach students so you will need exceptional communication and inter-personal skills, and will need to be comfortable hosting internal and external events across varying formats (virtual / onsite / on camera). The post holder will also be required to help with internal and industry events to help support current students and the Point Blank brand.

In short, you will be a music loving, industry savvy, engagement professional who knows how to connect with and excite student audiences using your natural enthusiasm, industry connections and professional skills to create an outstanding student experience that supports recruitment, our widening participation offering, student progression and Point Blank events.


  • Input into the annual engagement plan to cover all key target audiences and activities, including onboarding activities such as induction and Welcome Week, masterclasses, workshops around national days such as International Women’s Day and Black History Month as well as, HE Fairs, School visits and other recruitment events
  • Take day-to-day responsibility of the event programme for prospective and current students – research new events gathering all relevant information and make appropriate recommendations
  • Build new and maintain existing partnerships with schools, academies and trusts and coordinate school visits both on and off-sit
  • Support the delivery of outreach initiatives in line with Point Blank’s Access and Participation Plan
  • Identify new opportunities for outreach and recruitment programmes, using in-house facilitators to help deliver engaging content to new prospects
  • Develop both online and offline events for both prospective audiences and current students such as masterclasses and workshops throughout the year
  • Lead on developing a series of presentations for Schools and Colleges and engaging content for both practical and informative sessions
  • Lead on the delivery of regular high-quality stakeholder engagement emailers (MailChimp) and other communications to students, alumni, and industry contact
  • Take part in recruitment and onboarding events, Freshers / Welcome Week and induction activities, inputting into the delivery of the “value added” masterclass and workshop events, in conjunction with Student Services and the Careers and Engagement Manager
  • Ensure that all student engagement services, activities, opportunities and events are effectively publicised (internally and externally) across platforms, with compelling copy that encourages sign-up and attendance, whilst reflecting our brand tone of voice
  • Help build key guidance and information for external facing website giving students the opportunity to understand the breadth of opportunities and courses Point Blank has to offer
  • Research music industry events, develop ideas for and help with logistics of Point Blank’s brand events such as BBC Amplify, AVA Music Conference, Brighton Music Conference, IMS (Ibiza Music Summit) and Sonar etc organise discounts and promote them to our students and prospects
  • Ensure that all information and processes relating to the activities is accurately presented, in a student / audience friendly way, in-line with business and regulatory requirements, and that all key stakeholders (internal and external) are kept informed
  • All events must be created in line with Point Blank’s strategic objectives and be informed by registrations, footfall, and other engagement metrics. All activities with prospective students must be recorded to allow for event analysis and future shaping of events
  • Undertake any other duties as relevant to the proper execution of the role or as reasonably requested by Head of Department or senior managers within the School



  • Hold a degree level qualification or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Proven experience in a similar careers/events role


  • Experience in HE / Education careers, mentoring and engagement roles
  • Experience in events planning and construction of annual events
  • Experience in presenting to and working with Schools, Colleges and under-represented groups


  • Strong communicator, with excellent presentation and hosting skills, and comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and solution focused, able to problem solve creatively
  • Team-player, can work with people from all disciplines, backgrounds and abilities
  • Excellent written English and effective copy writing / proof reading skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong planning and delivery skills across platforms such as Virtual Learning Environments and websites
  • Able to produce accurate post-event reporting on engagement metrics with conclusions and recommendations
  • Thorough and well-organised, able to meet multiple tasks and deadlines effectively and to perform well under pressure
  • Ability to work with academics and other stakeholders in building events for prospects and current students
  • Discreet, with an awareness of data protection principals
  • Ability to link curriculum with career pathways and demonstrate sound partnerships for events and fairs with the students and graduates in mind



  • A careers or events marketing related qualification


  • Experience of music and / or education marketing
  • Experience in sending communications to audiences through Customer Relation Management tools or systems such as Mailchimp


  • Understanding of the music industry and music production techniques
  • An understanding of core issues relating to EDI (equality, diversity and inclusion)
  • Good knowledge of current music / music trends (techniques, genres, artists)
