Lecturer (London)

Overview

Point Blank is an award-winning music school based in London, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Mumbai, China and online. We specialise in Higher Education and practical courses in subjects including: Music Production and Sound Engineering, DJ Practice and Performance, Singing and Songwriting, Music Industry Management, and Radio Production and Broadcasting.

We have been awarded TEF Silver recognition for excellence in Higher Education teaching and have a reputation for giving our students a unique and high-quality experience. 

We are looking to add to our team of London lecturers.

Candidates need to be team players who are reliable and keen to work in a Higher Education environment with a diverse group of students. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is attention to detail. Ability to work to a deadline is also extremely important as all lecturers are required to mark assignments each term.

Previous teaching experience is desirable, especially of Higher Education courses. Having a teaching qualification is an advantage but not essential.

All our teaching staff are music industry professionals so candidates without significant experience will not be considered. Please include a list of artists, studios and record labels that you have worked with in your application.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver module classes for learners
  • Deliver module course content as laid out in the VLE - lecturer-led topics, student exercises, and project-based assignments
  • Prepare appropriate plans and learning materials for each lesson
  • Provide specialist subject information, advice and support to learners
  • Monitor, mark and assess students’ work and progress
  • Complete class registers and assist with student attendance monitoring and retention
  • Implement Health and Safety policy and procedures in the classroom
  • Attend meetings of teaching staff for training purposes and course development
  • Understand, implement, monitor, and fairly enforce all the relevant School policies
  • Understand the School’s mission and educational objectives and strive to implement them

Person Specification

  • At least 5 years of relevant/current Music Industry experience for the subjects being taught
  • Teaching qualification (desirable) and/or willingness to undergo training
  • Educated to at least degree level (desirable)
  • Experience of teaching/training or working with groups of adults
  • An understanding of teaching methods - planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning
  • An awareness of different learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for teaching a diverse range of abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
