Fancy yourself as the next Zane Lowe or Annie Mac? Both have been guests at Point Blank and both are changing the way we think about radio – continually finding new ways to innovate one of the oldest forms of communication. In fact, radio listenership grew to its highest levels ever for the past two years in a row. It's not going away and it needs new talent to continue to revolutionise the format. Point Blank has been at the forefront of the next generation of radio with alumni including Gemma Cairney (BBC Radio 1, Channel 4), Monki (Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra), Madam X (1Xtra), Mistajam (BBC Radio 1), Shan McGinley (Roundhouse Radio, SISTER) and many more. Our Radio Presenting Award gives you the skills you need to create engaging and exciting content. Taught by experienced industry professionals, this three month course gives you all the skills you need to start producing your own professional level radio shows.
2 daytime classes (11am - 6pm)
This course allows you to take advantage of Point Blank's expert instructors, outstanding facilities and practical hands on style of teaching without taking the academic route. You will receive a Point Blank Certificate on successful completion.
If you wish to gain academic accreditation you can apply for one of our accredited courses instead e.g. the Radio Broadcasting Diploma which is quality assured by Middlesex University and for which you receive a Middlesex award on successful completion (CertHE). It is an ideal progression route to a job in the industry.
Award students take two modules concurrently. Each module you take will require your attendance at either one daytime class (11am-6pm) or two evening classes (6:30pm-9:30pm) per week. Please note your classes will be scheduled before the start of each term. Call for details and to arrange times convenient for you. In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule sufficient practice time at our studio facilities each week. The studio facilities are open 7 days a week, allowing you to gain valuable studio experience and reinforcing the skills learned in class.
No. We supply all the equipment you will need for your class and for practice time.
Professional and Career Development Loans are commercial bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning. You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one year’s relevant unpaid practical work). The Government will pay the interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month afterwards. You will then need to start repaying the loan as you would any other commercial loans product. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to supplement other forms of support such as grants or bursaries. As the Professional and Career Development Loan is a commercial loan product, you should make sure you have investigated all the funding options that may be open to you to ensure you take an informed decision about whether the Loan is right for you. For further information on financial assistance to support your learning visit, click here or contact the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900. Our learning provider registration number is 5742.
You can take this course without any prior experience. It is creative and practical in nature so academic grades are not required to enrol. Point Blank ensures that students have a sound grasp of all the fundamental skills before moving on to more complex techniques in more advanced modules.
